Staff was great. They messed up one of our orders but immediately bent over backwards to fix it.

The pizza was incentive but only okay in taste, though I may be spoiled since I live 1 block away from a pizza place that won the world championship of pizza making.

My companions were groaning about how wonderful their desserts were and how big.

Actually the portion sizes were excellent-they definitely weren't making you pay huff prices for tiny portions.

We were a party of 13. A couple of other small parties there when we were. Firstly the food was VERY tasty, great flavours. Sadly a few dishes were cold, we think they were waiting for pizzas to be done, as they were really hot and unfortunately crusts were charred in places. After our meals were served nobody came and asked "how are your meals" ...we would have said. Also our water was not refilled as we waited for desert. Only near the very end of desert. We didn't complain at the time as we were a large party having a great time visiting, but for the money... there were too many problems.

Disappointing! I knew it was going to be pretentious but this place didn't even have good food to match their attitude.

They had printed a new menu that day and still managed to run out of 2 of items we wanted.

The croquette is nothing to write home about. The broiled oyster were over powered by the saltiness of the salmon bacon and the prawn dish was commandeered by the blue cheese. Our best dish was the beet salad. If you love beet salads then this is the place for you. If you like seafood, stay away.

The service was very polite but those girls are run off their feet. They need one more server to make it easier for everyone.

This restaurant holds a special place in our hearts. We've been eating at Sobo since it was a food truck operating out of the parking lot at the Tofino Botanical Gardens, and chef Lisa catered a meal for our school group on a yearly basis for at least 5 years. The food is wholesome, fresh, inventive and, above all, delicious. We also own the cookbook, which is outstanding. We recommend the fish chowder, cornbread, any fish item, and menu items that showcase the freshest seasonal ingredients of the moment (for instance, a delicious combo of local fiddle heads, mushrooms and kale was on the menu when we last visited).

Finally, reliably superb food in Tofino. The smoked salmon chowder is heavenly. My fav is the grilled octopus. We've had almost all the pizzas and they're uniformly excellent. Noise and crowds can get borderline top-heavy . Overall, a must-go when there's company, for biz, or special occasions. Or, when your family needs a nice treat. Best to avoid the busy rush hours when quality and service slip from A+ to B- grade.
